B1G Kickoff
The KC area Big Ten chapters will party together once again this year, this time at No Other Pub in the Power and Light District on Saturday, August 5, from 4 to 7 p.m. The new venue will allow us to mix with our fellow Big 10 alums and compete in all the games that we have enjoyed in previous years, plus shuffleboard and foosball. For a fee, they also have bowling, snookball, golf, and arcade games. And we will get $2.00 off appetizers.

2017 Spring Dinner
Our annual Spring Dinner was held Saturday, May 6 at Deer Creek Golf Club. Thanks to Prof. Kevin Furlong of the Penn State Geosciences faculty for being our guest speaker this year!
Chapter of Distinction
The Alumni Association has notified us that we have once again achieved Group of Distinction status, placing our chapter in the upper tier of Penn State alumni groups. Thanks to all of our chapter members who volunteered hard to make this happen.
Sunflower House
Sunflower House is a local, non-residential child advocacy and abuse prevention center that our chapter has been supporting. Some raised funds, such as some of our 50/50 raffle proceeds, are donated to Sunflower House. We encourage individual chapter members to donate here.
Members of the Penn State Alumni of Kansas City presented a check to Cedar Cove Feline Sanctuary to kick off a new philanthropic relationship.
Cedar Cove Feline Sanctuary
In recent years, we have adopted Cedar Cove Feline Sanctuary in Louisburg, Kan., as a major focus of both service and philanthropy. We are working with the park to create a mini “Mt. Nittany” habitat for mountain lions. We have performed landscaping work at the site and raised funds for the project.
